Fidget Desktops: Snowfall

Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Your desktop stays on your Mac. Snowfall processes its effects locally. The app does not create an account, show advertising, include analytics or track you.

Screen access and interaction

With your screen-recording permission, Snowfall uses screen images to locate desktop icons and the Dock, and to let the robin detect red objects. These images are processed locally for the effects and are not saved or shared with us or third parties.

Snowfall also reads window positions and pointer movement so snow and characters can interact with your desktop. To avoid perching on a cursor hidden while typing, the app compares the time since keyboard and pointer events. It does not read or record what you type. Snowfall does not capture microphone or system audio.

You can use the app without screen-recording access, with those optional screen-dependent effects unavailable. You can revoke access in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security. See permission guidance.

Local settings and custom images

Snowfall saves your preferences and, if you choose a custom flake image, a local copy of that image in its app storage. These are used to restore your choices when you reopen the app and are not uploaded to us. Reset restores defaults and removes the saved custom image.

Data collection and Apple services

The app does not send personal information, screen images or usage analytics to the developer. It has no advertising or tracking SDKs.

Apple handles App Store purchases, permission prompts and other macOS system services. If you choose to share crash reports with developers through Apple, Apple may make those reports available to us through App Store Connect. Those services are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Contacting support

If you email us, we use your email address, message and any attachments to respond to your request. Any screenshots or videos you deliberately send may contain desktop information, so check them for private content before sharing.

For privacy questions, contact Gavin Matthews at support@gavz.app.

This website and policy updates

For information about this website and its hosting, see the gavz website privacy policy. If Snowfall’s privacy practices change, this policy and its updated date will change too.
