Orbit: Pixel Inspector
Getting started & support
Point at a pixel. Orbit brings the detail closer.
Allow screen access
When you first launch Orbit, macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording permission. Orbit needs this to read the pixels near your pointer and show them in the loupe. It does not record audio or save screen captures.
Allow Orbit under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then quit and reopen the app if macOS asks you to.
Using Orbit
Move your pointer to inspect the magnified pixels, colour and ruler. Click the Dock icon or press Control–Option–Command–Space to show or hide Orbit. You can change that global shortcut in Orbit → Settings.
- Control–Option–Command–G: toggle the pixel grid.
- Control–Option–Command–H: show the shortcuts overlay.
- Control–Option–Command–+ or −: adjust zoom.
- Control–Option–Command–0: reset size and zoom.
